Artist Galina Sukhova at Once in Doubt exhibition

Atticus Arts Gallery presents a charity exhibition, Once in Doubt, by the artist Galina Sukhova. Proceeds from the sale of the works presented at the exhibition will be directed to a fund to help Ukrainian residents affected by the Russian invasion.
Galina Sukhova is an abstract artist whose vibrant work over decades has directly explored the potential of gesture and line to create meaningful colour, form and space. In recent years, she has increasingly repelled the expressive possibilities of liquid calligraphy. Abstract painting by Sukhova is a way to express human nature and experience through meaning, feeling and beauty in visual form.
New works by Galina Sukhova offer one of the solutions to the riddle of what a colour left to itself can do. Bright colours echo wildly under the artist’s hand, haunting the eye. A dense pattern against the background of primary colours creates a visual tug of war. The movement, the spectacle, and the vivid reality of the paint on the canvas evoke inspiration and attract attention. These powerful paintings can make a lasting impression.
The exhibition Once in Doubt by Galina Sukhova can be seen until 3 August, 2023 at Atticus Arts Gallery (11a Queen Street, Bath).
