‘Style-defying’ artist Simone Forti brings dance, drawings, holograms to MOCA

Simone Forti has been creating dance “constructions” because the Nineteen Fifties. Now, at 87, she has her first West Coast museum present up at MOCA in downtown LA. The exhibition options the artist’s drawings, stay and recorded performances, holograms that convey her motion to life, and extra in a career-spanning retrospective.

“Her work is not actually about dance within the conventional sense, the place there is a begin and a end, and we’re passive viewers members,” notes Lindsay Preston Zappas, founder and editor-in-chief of Up to date Artwork Evaluation Los Angeles. “It is actually about motion, and the way motion nearly might help us perceive the world and our personal our bodies and the connection to different folks.”
